In a strategic move to ensure that the project implementation complies with environmental and social standards and the occupational health and safety requirements. The Kwara State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) led by the Project Social Safeguard Officer, Mrs. Folake Iseyemi today visited newly constructed Solar Powered Borehole Water site in Bode-Saadu Livestock Market in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State for an On-the-spot-assessment of the project in the market .

The team also held stakeholders meeting with the market executive and Fulani Community with a view to identify any social or environmental issues that may negatively affect the sustainability of the project in the area.

Kwara Government Distributes 3,000 L-PRES' PPE to Butchers, Abattoir workers, others

The Kwara State Government has Commenced the distribution of 3,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) to livestock farmers and value chain operators in the State under the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES). The exercise which took place at the Olushola Saraki Abattoir, Akarebiata in Ilorin was well attended by the members of the Kwara State Butchers Union, elders of the union including Seriki Fawa, Alhaji Suleiman Seriki, Iyaloja of the Market, and other stakeholders in the market. In his remarks, the State Project Coordinator, Mr. Olusoji Oyawoye said the PPE kits are for the safety of livestock farmers, butchers, meat processors and other value chain players in the sector. The Coordinator, represented by Mr. Awoyemi Raphael urged the beneficiaries of the items to ensure judicious use of the kits with a view to spurring government to do more in improving their businesses. In discharging its critical responsibilities by providing technical backstopping to the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) for the State Coordination Office towards ensuring smooth implementation of its programmes and activities as approved in the Annual Work Plan and Budget. The Kwara State L-PRES Project held its November State Technical Committee Meeting under the Chairmanship of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs. Funke Sokoya in Ilorin, Kwara State Capital.
