Kwara Government Distributes 3,000 L-PRES' PPE to Butchers, Abattoir workers, others
The Kwara State Government has Commenced the distribution of 3,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) to livestock farmers and value chain operators in the State under the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES).
The exercise which took place at the Olushola Saraki Abattoir, Akarebiata in Ilorin was well attended by the members of the Kwara State Butchers Union, elders of the union including Seriki Fawa, Alhaji Suleiman Seriki, Iyaloja of the Market, and other stakeholders in the market.
In his remarks, the State Project Coordinator, Mr. Olusoji Oyawoye said the PPE kits are for the safety of livestock farmers, butchers, meat processors and other value chain players in the sector.
The Coordinator, represented by Mr. Awoyemi Raphael urged the beneficiaries of the items to ensure judicious use of the kits with a view to spurring government to do more in improving their businesses.
The Seriki Fawa of the market, Alhaji Suleiman Seriki thanked the state governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq kwara L-PRES coordination office and other development partners for the kind gesture, and assured that the items and other facilities in the market would be well protected to achieve the aims of the government for the livestock sector in the State.
On his part, the State Chairman of the Butchers Union, Alhaji Mohammed Salihu Dangote also corroborated the Seriki Fawa and assured the World Bank and State government of their unalloyed support to achieve their aims towards eradicating poverty in the Country.
Items in the package distributed include; an apron, a pair of boots, rain coat, gloves, and nose masks.
