Expert Stresses The Significance of Effective Communication in Project Implementation

An Abuja based communication and knowledge management expert, Mrs. Aishat Onusi has stressed the significance of effective communication in achieving the organization's project development objective.
Mrs. Onusi stated this at a communication and knowledge management clinic workshop, organised for the State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU) of the Kwara State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) by the State Coordination Office in Ilorin.
The Communication expert, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Four Icons Premium Limited disclosed that good communication and effective knowledge management structure would improve visibility, sustain smooth delivery and replicability when outcomes, experiences, and lessons from project implementation begin to emerge.
She identified effective communication and knowledge management strategies as crucial components for the successful implementation of development projects, adding that seamless flow of information and strategic handling of knowledge are determinant factors in achieving development objectives and fostering sustainable growth.
According to her, unambiguous, timely, and transparent communication would enhance understanding, build consensus, manage expectations of the stakeholders, and minimize the risk of misunderstanding in a development project.
Onusi explained that a robust knowledge management system would assist development projects to avoid repeating previous mistakes and capitalise on what had worked well in the past to make the project more effective and efficient.
The expert further encouraged the management team to improve on their communication skills when dealing with the internal and external publics for a successful implementation.
Earlier, the State Project Coordinator, Mr. Olusoji Oyawoye had commended the state government for its support to the project through prompt payment of counterpart funds and other technical assistance in transforming the livestock sector of the state.
Oyawoye, who also appreciated the technical support of the National L-PRES office, the World Bank, and other partners at ensuring smooth implementation of the project in the state, enjoined the state implementation team to continue to put in their best to the project for a better outcome.
